ANCIENT ALIENS

In the spirit of the season.

My Mum is a fan of a show called Ancient Aliens and whlie watching the latest episode of the show on facetube (youtube) she spotted this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m99CzWNJX7k and because it's Christmas I thougt it was appropriate to post it. And if you haven't seen the real Ancient Aliens show then to really get the joke 100%, you might like to watch a few minutes of it   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUHk9FLZMf4  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDKvWiToj8Y. As an added bonus my brother found this picture of Giorgio Tsoukalos, also known as 'Tsoukalicious'

(And yes, I know I'm a day late, but I was woken up at six o'clock by my nieces on Christmas day, so you can imagine what the day was like from then on.......)

MULDER'S DREAM GIRL...

The truth is out there!

OK, yes I know I haven't posted in a while, BUT I actually have a good excuse and here it is: I've been busy taking stuff out of my mum's kitchen cupboards and packing it away, and then taking apart said cupboards. But packing isn't all I've been doing, oh no, I've have been making something quite out of this world! (I have no idea why I'm talking like this, sorry, it's probably lack of sleep...), anyway, tada:

He's crocheted, and made from 4 ply cotton and a 2.00 mm needle. He's stuffed with black cotton, I would have preferred it if he was stuffed with grey cotton but I didn't have enough left. But I suppose black cotton is better than stuffing it with with polyester.

I did make a pattern, but I'd like to make another Alien just in case I made a mistake.

So I'll put the pattern up soon.

CTHULHU

"Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn"

("In his house at R'lyeh, dead Cthulhu waits dreaming.")
 -From H. P. Lovecraft's 'Call of Cthulhu'.

Cthulhu is described as resembling "an octopus, a dragon, and a human caricature.... A pulpy, tentacled head surmounted a grotesque scaly body with rudimentary wings"

Thanks to an amazing lady called Katie I now have a giant Cthulhu plush!!!!!!! I've wanted one for seven years, and I almost can't believe after so lon,g I actually have one. He is SO cute and soft and he takes up one full seat on our couch. He's made of a teddy bear fur type fabric. Only 4000 of these giant Cthulhu's were made by Toy Vault in the year 2000.

Here's a photo of my giant Cthulhu plush, fondling The Necronomicon (in case you didn't know what and giant cthulhu plush looks like).
And because Katie was so nice I thought I would make her this.......

Because no householed should be with out a Cthulhu.

The original patten doesn't have legs, so I thought that I should add some.

I got the patten from here: http://cthulhucrochet.blogspot.com.au/2008/05/tiny-cthulhu-free-pattern.html

SPOOKY OOOoooooOOoooOOooo.....

Moha ha ha........

Because it's Halloween, I thought I should post some interesting things about Halloween and the creatures assocated with Halloween and dark dreary nights :)
Here's a part of a book I've been reading. it's called "Vampires: a BITE-sized history".

"We can trace many current beliefs - including Halloween and El Dia de los Muertos, the Day of the Dead in mexico - to Sumerian and Babylonian beliefs in demons, ghouls and vampire. Like the Sumerians, many later cultures, including that of the Celts, believed there was a time in the year (the festival of Samhain) when the impenetrable mists that separated the dead from the living thinned, a time when the dead might cross over into the world of the living and visit loved ones or, if they were vengeful types, do harm."

And some other things:

Halloween is thought to have been influenced by the Christian holy days of All Saints' Day Halloween also use to be known as All Hallows' Eve by the early Catholic Church.

Until midnight on All Hallows' Eve when the dead were bound to return to their world, the way to households would be lit with lanterns made from candes placed in hollowed out turnips.
(The turnip has traditionally been used in Ireland and Scotland at Halloween in sted of pumpkins)

Vampires are mythological beings who subsist by feeding on the life essence (generally in the form of blood) of living creatures, vampiric entities have been recorded in many cultures, and may go back to prehistoric times. Vampires are generally known to have pale skin and say indoors during the day and more recently are supposed to be good looking and sparkle in the sunlight.

A werewolf is a mythological or folkloric human with the ability to shapeshift into a wolf or an anthropomorphic wolf-like creature, either purposely or after being placed under a curse and/or lycanthropic affliction via a bite or scratch from a werewolf. This transformation is often associated with the appearance of the full moon. once a man or woman has trasformed into a wolf they will probably eat anyone in their parth, wether friend or foe.

And finally here is a picture of a pumpkin I carved:

And one my brother did:

And one my Mum did:

I hope you have found this interesting (I wish I could put more interesting, and not so well-known facts...... but I have a headache) if you did find this interesting please post a comment.

BYE BYE POND

I think I need a hug.

Yes I know that the episode where Amy and Rory left aired over two weeks ago, but I've been sulking too much to post here.

I don't really know what to say because I'm still sad, but I will say this, I know I'm probably being silly because its only a TV show, but I really liked Amy and Rory and I think they are my favourite companions (in newWho anyway). I think they both changed a lot, and developed more over the past two series. Karen Gillan said that when Amy was a kid, she looked up to the doctor as a kind of god like figure, and by the end of series six it had reversed with Amy being his mother-in-law. And Rory went from being a bombing sidekick, a sort of Mickie if you will, to a brave full on character.

There maybe a chance they could come back though, anything is possible in Doctor Who. But I don't think they will, I'd like them to, but I don't think Steven Moffat will bring them back after such a sad ending. And so for now, it's a shame that they are gone, but my Mum and Dad think when I've seen a few episodes with  Jenna Louise Coleman, the new companion as Clara or Oswin or whatever her name is, that I'll be saying Amy WHO?

And so with all that said, I leave you with Amy's file word's (OR are they?!?)

“Hello old friend, and here we are. You and me, on the last page. By the time you read these words, Rory and I will be long gone. So know that we lived well, and we’re very happy. And above all else, know that we will love you, always. Sometimes I do worry about you, though. I think, once we’re gone, you won’t be coming back here for a while, and you might be alone, which you should never be. Don’t be alone, Doctor. And do one more thing for me. There’s a little girl waiting in a garden. She’s going to wait a long while, so she’s going to need a lot of hope. Go to her. Tell her a story. Tell her that if she’s patient, the days are coming that she’ll never forget. Tell her she’ll go to sea and fight pirates. She’ll fall in love with a man who’ll wait two thousand years to keep her safe. Tell her she’ll give hope to the greatest painter who ever lived, and save a whale in outer space. Tell her, this is the story of Amelia Pond. And this is how it ends.”

BUTTERFLY CUPCAKES

Ah! The deliciousness of cupcakes

I made these a few days ago, they weren't hard to make, and they tasted pretty good. Here's the recipe:

Butterfly Cupcakes.                                                     Preheat the oven to 180 C (350 F) Line a
120 g butter, softened                                                  flat-bottomed 12-hole cupcake tray with paper
180 g (3/4 cup) raw sugar                                            patty cases.
185 g (1 1/2 cups) wholemeal self-raising flour
125 ml (1/2 cup) milk                                                   Beat the butter, sugar, flour, milk and eggs
2 eggs                                                                       until smooth and pale. Divide evenly among
125 ml (1/2 cup) thick (double) cream                           the cases and bake for 30 minutes or until
1 1/2 tablespoons strawberry jam                                 cooked and golden. Transfer to a wire rack to
Strawberries.                                                              cool.

Cut the top of the cup cake off using a sharp knife, then cut in half. Spoon 2 teaspoons cream on to the top of the cupcake, top with 1 teaspoon jam and position two halves of the cake tops in the jam to resemble butterfly wings. Makes 12.

P. S. These were supposed to be fresh carrots!!!

GREEN CUTENESS.

Cthulhu in all his powerful painted glory.

My brother painted this for me, for Christmas last year, and it is SO CUTE!

CUSHION COVER

MY SECOND ATTEMPT AT SEWING ON A SEWING MACHINE.

I've been sick for the last few days so I haven't been able to post anything. But I'm feeling better, so I thought I'd post some pictures of a patchwork cushion cover I made two weeks ago with my new sewing machine. I cut a three and a half inch square from an ice cream container lid, and used it as a template. I just did straight sewing, and didn't bother to zigzag the edges. As you can from the picture the back is just a no zip cushion cover. I might tackle a zip next time.

This Project took me two days to complete.

BREAD FROM THE HEAVENS

My house is an Anatidaephobiac's worst nightmare.

This photo isn't in perfect focus, as it's hard to take pictures and throw bread at the same time. The blurry things in the top left of the picture, is bread from the heavens! Normally the ducks come and peck on the loungeroom window and I give them some bread and seed, but a dog ended up scaring them down stairs. So I thought I would take the opportunity to take this photo, and now all of a sudden, I have a picture with ducks and bread, and a new bread cult (I have two members so far)!

RING AND BRACELET

DOCTOR WHO JEWELLERY

Hello all you non existant people! I've been slacking on posting lately so here is a little glimpse of what I have been doing. This GERONIMO! bracelet was my first and only attempt at a friendship bracelet, and it turned out OK.

This ring is made out of silver wire and oven baked clay. The D & W have been painted blue because I ran out of blue clay.

CUDDLY STARGATE SYMBIOTE.

FRENCH KNITTED GOA'ULD SYMBIOTE.

Recently me brother got me hooked on Stargate SG-1, so for his birthday I thought that it would be a good idea to make him a Goa'uld. Because I've watched so much Stargate, I figured I would be able to make a pretty accurate Goa'uld symbiote. The body is made of three ropes of french knitting. The back fins are just plain knitting, while the head fins (or as my brother has joked ear fins) are french knitting.

The mouth is french knitting and the teeth are knitted. My fingers where sore and blistered by the time I finished, but I got the symbiote finished in exactly a week, at 3 am on my brother's birthday. (The last 2 hours while I was finishing it I kept talking to myself in a strange Rumplestiltskin voice)!

MY FIRST POST.

THIS IS WHAT MY BROTHER DID TO MY SHOES.

My poor, poor Amy Pond shoes. My brother put my new shoes in the tree behind our house for some unknown reason (OK so I sort of asked him to because I was bored, and wanted to take some picture's........ but still he put them in a tree!).
