SECRETS OF GECKO FEET.

Scientist are evil, because they steal my ideas.

Years ago I had an idea, and that idea was this: I thought that maybe people could make special gloves that had microscopic hairs on them, like the hairs on a geckos foot. My brother said I was mad, and that is was impossible. But is seems that maybe he is the mad one......
Also if Gecko hair gloves become a successful thing in the future, just remember, I came up with the idea first.

PATCHWORK WAISTCOAT.

Patchwork, mess-ups and buttons!

For mothers day I made my Mum a patchwork waistcoat. It was my very first attempt at making a piece of clothing and so of course I screwed it up. It ended up being a bit shorter than I had planned and I messed up one of the arm pits. :/

It's was pretty fun to make apart from the fact I kept worrying every five minutes that it wasn't going to get finish in time, or that I was going to completely mess it up, or that I was going to run out of material because it took quite a lot of material to make.

Mum loves it despite all the mistakes. :)

CROCHET GODZILLA 2000.

'Godzillarace' the Abomination.

OK. so first off, before I get start talking about what things I have been doing, I know it's been a very long time slice I've posted anything, but believe it or not my life has actually been VERY busy, not all in a good way though. :( There have been a few good things happen, but unfortunately a lot of really bad things, so I do apologise to you for not posting, and yes I am apologising to you, the one person who reads my blog. :P so I will make a few posts today.

Now on to the craft! It was my brothers birthday last month and for his birthday I made him, take a guess............. common guess..... a crocheted thing! yep a good old reliable crocheted thing. Well it's not exactly a "thing" it's a crocheted Godzilla 2000, or as I like to call him, because I completely messed him up, 'Godzillarace' the Abomination. I used a 3.00 mm hook and 4 ply cotton. I will post the pattern.....eventually, when I could be bothered to fix it because it's very messy.

Did I mention I hate Godzilla? I use to like him, but now I really, really don't :P , everything about him is so annoying, especially how disproportioned he is. As I was crocheting him I kept thinking I was making him all wrong, but no, Godzilla is really THAT strange in real life, I mean in film making life, I mean, oh whatever. Even though Godzilla is supposed to be disproportioned, I still think I made the legs too big and put them in the wrong place!!!

I am happy with the teeth though, but not the frills, oh how I hate them, they're just such a horrible colour. If you are wondering why they are such a horrible colour it's because the colour of the real Godzilla 2000 frills are hard to discern, and so because I couldn't decide what colour to do them I picked multi-coloured, which was a mistake. But the strange thing is, that as I was adding more of them to Godzilla, it just looked better in it's owe horrible way. My Mum said to think of them like sequins on Liberace's jacket, the more you added the better it looked. (I still hate the frills though).

Well I hope you have enjoy this blog post, of me complaining about everything! :P

PADME INSPIRED HAIRSTYLE.

Yes I know it's a a bit messy.

I got bored a few weeks ago, so I decided to do a Padme Amidala inspired hairstyle, and after six hair ties and twenty bobbie pins I did it! (short of).

Just in case you can't tell ;) the first two pictures are of Padme :P and the last picture is my hair.

CHRISTMAS (AGAIN).

Laziness.

I've been meaning to post this for months but life has been busy sort of, not really, I'm just lazy. Anyway here are some things I made for my family for Christmas (yes I know I'm still on the subject of Christmas).

I made these two fruit bags for my nieces. The strawberry one is made out of wool and the watermelon one is made of cotton. (I had a little trouble with the watermelon bag but I think it turned out OK in the end).

Strawberry bag pattern here: http://www.beginner-crochet-patterns.com/strawberry-crochet-bag.html
Watermelon Coin Purse pattern here:http://www.repeatcrafterme.com/2012/07/crochet-watermelon-coin-purse.html

I made this Crobot for my nephew, who surprising liked it (I thought he wouldn't because it wasn't Lego or a game console).

You can buy the Corbots book here: http://www.amazon.com/Crobots-20-Amigurumi-Robots-Make/dp/0740778277/ref=tmm_pap_title_0 Although I have only made one pattern from this book I would recommend it because some of the patterns in it are really cute, especially the Zombiebot ;P

I painted this for my Dad out of arctic paint. I know I'm no Vincent Van Gogh but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

My Sister posted this picture on her Facebook page, and because I'm poor and these tea sets cost a lot of money, ever since then I knew exactly what I was going to make her for Christmas.

And so here they are! They're made out of bakeable clay, and I think they took about four hours to make.

I was racing my brain as to what I should make my Mum for Christmas and then it hit me, what elase would someone make their mother for Christmas, other than a pink crocheted Cthulhu! (I think used the wrong hook because it seems bigger than the last one I made, but it's hard to tell because I haven't got that one anymore).

My brother really loves Nightgaunts so I modified my alien pattern (which I will post the pattern to soon) and ended up with this:

He's made from 4 ply cotton and a 2.00 mm needle just like the Alien
.

I do wonder one thing though, why is it the things I make for my brother only just get finished just in time, at like three in the morning, and I end up going crazy because of lack of sleep?

I made this crochet doll of my sister, for my brother-in-laws birthday. It felt kind of weird crocheting my sister in a bikini but it was worth it because I got lots of thankyou hugs :)

I modified this pattern to make the doll. http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/martian-boy

My brother half made this Mandrel (from Doctor Who) for my birthday out of "green stuff" and I say half made because he only finished sculpting it for my birthday and three months later finally painted it. But at lest it's finally finished now and it looks amazing and at lest my brother sculpted the fur on the Mandrel's bum (which he was hesitant to do because apparently it looked "weird") like the original costumes.

Awww.... look it wants a hug.

And finally, last thing! I didn't make this, my sister did. I didn't want to made the biscuits because it looked to pretty in the jar, but my mum and brother convinced me to make them and they tasted really good!

ANCIENT ALIENS

In the spirit of the season.

My Mum is a fan of a show called Ancient Aliens and whlie watching the latest episode of the show on facetube (youtube) she spotted this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m99CzWNJX7k and because it's Christmas I thougt it was appropriate to post it. And if you haven't seen the real Ancient Aliens show then to really get the joke 100%, you might like to watch a few minutes of it   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUHk9FLZMf4  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDKvWiToj8Y. As an added bonus my brother found this picture of Giorgio Tsoukalos, also known as 'Tsoukalicious'

(And yes, I know I'm a day late, but I was woken up at six o'clock by my nieces on Christmas day, so you can imagine what the day was like from then on.......)

MULDER'S DREAM GIRL...

The truth is out there!

OK, yes I know I haven't posted in a while, BUT I actually have a good excuse and here it is: I've been busy taking stuff out of my mum's kitchen cupboards and packing it away, and then taking apart said cupboards. But packing isn't all I've been doing, oh no, I've have been making something quite out of this world! (I have no idea why I'm talking like this, sorry, it's probably lack of sleep...), anyway, tada:

He's crocheted, and made from 4 ply cotton and a 2.00 mm needle. He's stuffed with black cotton, I would have preferred it if he was stuffed with grey cotton but I didn't have enough left. But I suppose black cotton is better than stuffing it with with polyester.

I did make a pattern, but I'd like to make another Alien just in case I made a mistake.

So I'll put the pattern up soon.

CTHULHU

"Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn"

("In his house at R'lyeh, dead Cthulhu waits dreaming.")
 -From H. P. Lovecraft's 'Call of Cthulhu'.

Cthulhu is described as resembling "an octopus, a dragon, and a human caricature.... A pulpy, tentacled head surmounted a grotesque scaly body with rudimentary wings"

Thanks to an amazing lady called Katie I now have a giant Cthulhu plush!!!!!!! I've wanted one for seven years, and I almost can't believe after so lon,g I actually have one. He is SO cute and soft and he takes up one full seat on our couch. He's made of a teddy bear fur type fabric. Only 4000 of these giant Cthulhu's were made by Toy Vault in the year 2000.

Here's a photo of my giant Cthulhu plush, fondling The Necronomicon (in case you didn't know what and giant cthulhu plush looks like).
And because Katie was so nice I thought I would make her this.......

Because no householed should be with out a Cthulhu.

The original patten doesn't have legs, so I thought that I should add some.

I got the patten from here: http://cthulhucrochet.blogspot.com.au/2008/05/tiny-cthulhu-free-pattern.html

SPOOKY OOOoooooOOoooOOooo.....

Moha ha ha........

Because it's Halloween, I thought I should post some interesting things about Halloween and the creatures assocated with Halloween and dark dreary nights :)
Here's a part of a book I've been reading. it's called "Vampires: a BITE-sized history".

"We can trace many current beliefs - including Halloween and El Dia de los Muertos, the Day of the Dead in mexico - to Sumerian and Babylonian beliefs in demons, ghouls and vampire. Like the Sumerians, many later cultures, including that of the Celts, believed there was a time in the year (the festival of Samhain) when the impenetrable mists that separated the dead from the living thinned, a time when the dead might cross over into the world of the living and visit loved ones or, if they were vengeful types, do harm."

And some other things:

Halloween is thought to have been influenced by the Christian holy days of All Saints' Day Halloween also use to be known as All Hallows' Eve by the early Catholic Church.

Until midnight on All Hallows' Eve when the dead were bound to return to their world, the way to households would be lit with lanterns made from candes placed in hollowed out turnips.
(The turnip has traditionally been used in Ireland and Scotland at Halloween in sted of pumpkins)

Vampires are mythological beings who subsist by feeding on the life essence (generally in the form of blood) of living creatures, vampiric entities have been recorded in many cultures, and may go back to prehistoric times. Vampires are generally known to have pale skin and say indoors during the day and more recently are supposed to be good looking and sparkle in the sunlight.

A werewolf is a mythological or folkloric human with the ability to shapeshift into a wolf or an anthropomorphic wolf-like creature, either purposely or after being placed under a curse and/or lycanthropic affliction via a bite or scratch from a werewolf. This transformation is often associated with the appearance of the full moon. once a man or woman has trasformed into a wolf they will probably eat anyone in their parth, wether friend or foe.

And finally here is a picture of a pumpkin I carved:

And one my brother did:

And one my Mum did:

I hope you have found this interesting (I wish I could put more interesting, and not so well-known facts...... but I have a headache) if you did find this interesting please post a comment.

BYE BYE POND

I think I need a hug.

Yes I know that the episode where Amy and Rory left aired over two weeks ago, but I've been sulking too much to post here.

I don't really know what to say because I'm still sad, but I will say this, I know I'm probably being silly because its only a TV show, but I really liked Amy and Rory and I think they are my favourite companions (in newWho anyway). I think they both changed a lot, and developed more over the past two series. Karen Gillan said that when Amy was a kid, she looked up to the doctor as a kind of god like figure, and by the end of series six it had reversed with Amy being his mother-in-law. And Rory went from being a bombing sidekick, a sort of Mickie if you will, to a brave full on character.

There maybe a chance they could come back though, anything is possible in Doctor Who. But I don't think they will, I'd like them to, but I don't think Steven Moffat will bring them back after such a sad ending. And so for now, it's a shame that they are gone, but my Mum and Dad think when I've seen a few episodes with  Jenna Louise Coleman, the new companion as Clara or Oswin or whatever her name is, that I'll be saying Amy WHO?

And so with all that said, I leave you with Amy's file word's (OR are they?!?)

“Hello old friend, and here we are. You and me, on the last page. By the time you read these words, Rory and I will be long gone. So know that we lived well, and we’re very happy. And above all else, know that we will love you, always. Sometimes I do worry about you, though. I think, once we’re gone, you won’t be coming back here for a while, and you might be alone, which you should never be. Don’t be alone, Doctor. And do one more thing for me. There’s a little girl waiting in a garden. She’s going to wait a long while, so she’s going to need a lot of hope. Go to her. Tell her a story. Tell her that if she’s patient, the days are coming that she’ll never forget. Tell her she’ll go to sea and fight pirates. She’ll fall in love with a man who’ll wait two thousand years to keep her safe. Tell her she’ll give hope to the greatest painter who ever lived, and save a whale in outer space. Tell her, this is the story of Amelia Pond. And this is how it ends.”

BUTTERFLY CUPCAKES

Ah! The deliciousness of cupcakes

I made these a few days ago, they weren't hard to make, and they tasted pretty good. Here's the recipe:

Butterfly Cupcakes.                                                     Preheat the oven to 180 C (350 F) Line a
120 g butter, softened                                                  flat-bottomed 12-hole cupcake tray with paper
180 g (3/4 cup) raw sugar                                            patty cases.
185 g (1 1/2 cups) wholemeal self-raising flour
125 ml (1/2 cup) milk                                                   Beat the butter, sugar, flour, milk and eggs
2 eggs                                                                       until smooth and pale. Divide evenly among
125 ml (1/2 cup) thick (double) cream                           the cases and bake for 30 minutes or until
1 1/2 tablespoons strawberry jam                                 cooked and golden. Transfer to a wire rack to
Strawberries.                                                              cool.

Cut the top of the cup cake off using a sharp knife, then cut in half. Spoon 2 teaspoons cream on to the top of the cupcake, top with 1 teaspoon jam and position two halves of the cake tops in the jam to resemble butterfly wings. Makes 12.

P. S. These were supposed to be fresh carrots!!!

GREEN CUTENESS.

Cthulhu in all his powerful painted glory.

My brother painted this for me, for Christmas last year, and it is SO CUTE!

CUSHION COVER

MY SECOND ATTEMPT AT SEWING ON A SEWING MACHINE.

I've been sick for the last few days so I haven't been able to post anything. But I'm feeling better, so I thought I'd post some pictures of a patchwork cushion cover I made two weeks ago with my new sewing machine. I cut a three and a half inch square from an ice cream container lid, and used it as a template. I just did straight sewing, and didn't bother to zigzag the edges. As you can from the picture the back is just a no zip cushion cover. I might tackle a zip next time.

This Project took me two days to complete.
